Post Draft

[ James Holden, today, broadcasts with tired eyes, a mug of coffee (labeled MCRN) in his hand, and a grey jumpsuit with "BERATNAS GAS" on the lapel. ]

Whoever told me I was gonna get a temporary inmate first, you were completely wrong. That was two weeks.

[ He sighs. ]

Name's James Holden, for those of you who missed my first message. Looks like I'm the warden assigned to Shuos Jedao. He's the charming, handsome one who's obsessed with games, and if you don't recognize that description, you probably haven't met him.

I don't know how the hell this is supposed to work, so I'm just gonna ask that anyone who gets a problem with him go to me first. And if you already have a problem with him, loop me in. I'd consider it a favor. [ He's direct and serious about this. ]

And... I don't know. What do I do, get to know his friends? Does he have friends? Of course he has friends. He could make friends with a bulkhead.

[ He's making an ass of himself on a public broadcast. And it's not even the first time. ]

And if you need a translation of what the hell he's talking about when he says 'Doctrine' or 'High Calendar', I think I've got it pretty much figured out.

Thanks.

[ He cuts it off there. Lord, that was fucking awful. He wishes he could record and edit before broadcast, but, whatever. ]

[ From here on out, Holden spends a lot of time in the gym. He's gotten basically used to full gravity, but he's not at full strength yet, so he does a lot of training meant to build muscle mass. His approach is a little haphazard, he never was the most disciplined guy, but he knows the basics and he doesn't push himself too hard.

He's still not over the food. Every meal, he's around the galley, taking unsubtle enjoyment in the tastes and smells. And coffee. Coffee is a luxury he's already gotten used to again, and he never plans on becoming un-used to it.

He spends a lot of time reviewing the data that came with Jedao's file. So sometimes he can be found with a tablet ("MCRN" on the back) in a common area, or at a table in the pub. He'll be flipping through images on it, or reading long blocks of text, or twisting around diagrams of ships and stations. Or playing what looks like board games. ]
